The
Zieminski Northern Roots Bursary will be awarded to 1-5 graduating high school students who demonstrate a genuine love for their Northeastern Ontario community and a commitment to staying or returning to the North after high school. Each selected winning applicant will receive
$1,000. Zieminski Real Estate Inc., Brokerage is proud to support local youth and encourage them to build their futures here. The bursary is open to students pursuing any next step—post-secondary education (local or elsewhere with intent to return), work, apprenticeship, or independent living in Northeastern Ontario. Funds are intended to off-set post-secondary educational costs, and or support for graduates who are directly entering the workforce to off-set housing/accommodation/work travel costs.
Applicants must be:
- Graduating high school students from Northeastern Ontario
- One of the following;
• Studying post-secondary education in Northeastern Ontario
• Studying post-secondary education outside of the region with an intent to return to Northeastern Ontario upon post-secondary graduation
• Entering the workforce in Northeastern Ontario - Show enthusiasm for the region through their video application and stated intentions of their return or remaining in Northeastern Ontario
How to Apply:
- Students must email a creative video (45 seconds maximum) showcasing why they love their Northeastern Ontario community. Be fun and original—it can be a simple selfie-style video sharing personal stories, or include clips, music, local scenes, voice-over, etc. The video must include audio explaining their passion for the North. Video files must be emailed to info@zieminski.ca. Accepted video formats include MP4 and MOV. You can also send your video file via a cloud sharing service (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud) provided the download option is turned on and the link is accessible without login. Videos exceeding 45 seconds in length will not qualify for the bursary.
- Included in the same email with the video attachment (or link), answer the following questions:
1.) Full name
2.) High school
3.) Post-graduation plans (what you intend to do after high school)
4.) When you hope to stay or return to Northern Ontario (e.g., staying locally now, or returning after studies)
- Applicants agree that their video may be used (in whole or edited) by Zieminski Real Estate Inc., Brokerage for promotional purposes, such as a social media compilation highlighting love for the North.
Applications are due no later than May 18th, 2026.
